Arts

Pope Prep’s Visual and Performing Arts program is essential to a Pope Prep education. Research has proven that focusing on art education in depth over time improves students’ academic, emotional, and intellectual development, which has deepened our resolve to invest in the arts. Since the first graduating class, Pope alum have studied art in colleges and universities throughout the nation, and many have built careers in music, design, theater, cinema, and as performing artists.

Middle school fine arts offers students an array of choices in both the performing and visual arts. Students with previous instrumental experience may audition to be a part of the high school orchestra. This advanced-level orchestra studies styles of music, including classical, chamber, cinematic, and contemporary pieces. In seventh and eighth grades, students may apply to be on the high school yearbook staff, working primarily on the middle school sections of the book while learning 21st-century media and design skills.

In sixth grade, students can choose from Choir, Theatre, and Visual Arts. In seventh and eighth grades, students have more options, including Choir, Dance, Instrumental Music, Intermediate Instrumental Ensemble, Theatre, and Visual Arts.
